Indonesia’s National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has suspended 1,999 free meal kitchens for failing to meet mandatory hygiene and sanitation certifications. This action comes in the wake of a food poisoning outbreak last week, which affected over 2,000 students and teachers across several provinces. Currently, there are 27,022 kitchens distributing free meals in the country. The BGN will investigate the suspended kitchens and emphasizes that compliance with hygiene standards is non-negotiable to ensure food safety.
