Twenty patients have been diagnosed with West Nile fever, of whom one is hospitalized and one has died. Mosquitoes carrying the virus have been detected in Ramat Hasharon, Emek Hefer, Lev Hasharon, and Eilot. The public is urged to take preventative measures such as eliminating standing water, using insect repellent, installing mosquito nets, and reporting infestations to local authorities. The risk increases during the summer, and a higher prevalence of virus-carrying mosquitoes is expected from June to November. Local authorities and ministries are collaborating on pest monitoring and control.
