Jammu and Kashmir reported 4,472 cases of tuberculosis during the first five months of 2026, representing approximately 40% of the planned annual target. As part of active case-finding activities, over 245,000 screenings were conducted in vulnerable populations. Of these, around 70% were assessed using chest X-rays.

Furthermore, the use of NAAT molecular tests for tuberculosis diagnosis reached 90%, reflecting a high adoption rate of rapid diagnostic tools. In the area of social and nutritional support, over 2,100 food support packages were distributed to tuberculosis patients.

Additionally, over 13,100 community partners of the National TB Programme, known in India as Nikshay Mitras, were registered to support patients through nutritional assistance, accompaniment, and other resources.

Coverage of preventive tuberculosis treatment increased to 34%. Additionally, 1,504 patients have been evaluated under the Differentiated TB Care model, which aims to adapt follow-up and care according to the risk and clinical needs of each patient.
