A tourist has tested positive for hantavirus. The patient is currently in isolation with his family in Galicia, Spain.
The individual previously visited France during the second half of July. The French authorities have been notified. France’s National Reference Centre has confirmed that it is the Andes strain, which can be transmitted from person to person through close and prolonged contact. The French health authorities have launched all necessary measures to reconstruct the different stages of his journey.
He is a French-Argentinian citizen and is no longer experiencing symptoms.
