The province of Salta intensifies surveillance of Chagas disease in rural areas, focusing on the detection of infected individuals and timely treatment. Between 2024 and 2025, 59,900 people were studied, with a positive seroprevalence of 2.5%. Entomological surveillance actions were carried out in the departments of Anta and Metán, coordinating with health and municipal teams to control the presence of triatomine bugs in homes.
Positive homes were identified in Apolinario Saravia, Joaquín V. González, El Galpón, La Lagunita, and Los Rosales, and strategies such as Triatomine Bug Identification Posts (PIV) were implemented. A regional meeting is planned for November to define surveillance and control actions for 2027.
