The UKHSA has reported a Salmonella outbreak in the United Kingdom, affecting seven countries, with 34 hospitalizations and one death. 207 cases have been confirmed between August of last year and August of this year, primarily in England (199 cases), Scotland (6), Wales (1), and Northern Ireland (1). The outbreak may be linked to imported eggs. The FSA assures that eggs produced in the UK are not affected. Salmonella can also be found in chicken, pork, and fruit. Symptoms include diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and fever. Proper hygiene during food preparation, thorough cooking, avoiding cross-contamination, and checking expiration dates are recommended.
