Poliovirus Type 2 Circulating Vaccine-Derived Poliovirus (cVDPV2) Cases in South Sudan

As of September 2, 2026, three cases of cVDPV2 have been reported in the states of Jonglei and Warrap, South Sudan.

These are the first cases of cVDPV2 reported in 2026, with onset of paralysis in May, June, and July 2026.
