Two cases of VDPV1 have been reported in Afghanistan this week, with onset of paralysis on April 14, 2026, and May 7, 2026.
The total number of cases in 2026 is now six, compared to 21 in 2025.
No positive environmental samples were detected this week, the last detection being on April 27, 2026.
