Increase in Salmonella cases in Colorado, USA.

July 30, 2026

More than 250 cases of Salmonella have been reported in Colorado since July 1, 2026, doubling the five-year July baseline (125 cases). The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) issued a public alert on July 28, 2026. Traceback investigations to identify the source (food, restaurant, supplier) are ongoing. No deaths or hospitalizations have been reported.

Whole genome sequencing (WGS) is being used to identify clusters. The actual community burden is estimated to be higher than the reported count.
