Dozens of people, including children, have contracted rabies in Ibb province in the past two days after being bitten by stray dogs. The local rabies unit is experiencing a shortage of rabies vaccines, and the vaccines are being sold at exorbitant prices in private pharmacies, making it difficult for many Yemeni families to access the necessary five-dose treatment. Hospitals in the province are also experiencing a shortage of vaccines, and the high prices are preventing timely preventative treatment. Residents are complaining about the increase in stray dogs and the lack of effective measures by the authorities.
