Increase in deaths from monsoon floods in Pakistan

July 28, 2026

Heavy monsoon rains and flooding in Pakistan have killed at least 107 people and injured 344 since June.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported 107 deaths, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa being the worst affected region with 55 fatalities, followed by Punjab with 36.

More than half of the deaths were due to collapsed houses. Seventeen relief camps have been set up in Lahore.

More rain is forecast for this week, and a new wet spell is expected to begin on Wednesday. In 2015, similar floods caused 1,037 deaths and displaced two million people.
