The Antani National and Specialized Hospital in Kabul has recorded 120 cases of Congo fever in the last 15 days, coinciding with the period following Eid al-Adha.
From the beginning of the year until the day before the holiday, 150 cases were recorded. Of the 120 recent cases, approximately 40% are women and over 60% are men. Six patients have died among these cases. Currently, 70 patients remain hospitalized, two of them in critical condition.
The increase is attributed to negligence in the handling of animals and meat during slaughter. Hospital preparedness measures have been implemented, and the importance of prevention, such as wearing gloves and disinfection, is being emphasized.
