The Democratic Republic of Congo reports 896 confirmed cases and 232 deaths from Ebola as of June 17, 2026, with a case fatality rate of 26.3%.
Transmission is concentrated in Ituri (817 cases), while North Kivu has a case fatality rate of 59.2%.
Twenty-one new cases and six deaths were reported on June 17.
The epidemic affects 33 health zones in Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu. Seventy-eight people have recovered, and 56 probable cases are under validation.
The risk is considered high to very high in Ituri and North Kivu due to persistent community transmission, a high concentration of cases, a high case fatality rate, and a complex humanitarian context, with a risk of cross-border spread.
