The presence of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes and larvae, vectors of viral diseases such as dengue, Zika, and chikungunya, has been detected for the first time in homes in East London, UK.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has increased surveillance. Although the risk to the public is considered low due to the climate, this is the fourth detection in recent years and the first time their breeding has been confirmed in the country.
