The Costa Rican Ministry of Health has confirmed 14 cases of Hepatitis A linked to an outbreak in Aserrí and San Juan de Dios de Desamparados. No one has required hospitalization, and no deaths have been reported. Fecal coliform contamination was detected in the Aserrí Municipal Aqueduct’s water system, which has already implemented corrective measures and has been verified as safe for consumption.

The ASADA Poás and Barrio Corazón de Jesús water systems showed no contamination. Hygiene measures are being reinforced, and residents are advised to monitor for symptoms.
