US CDC has declared the end of this summer’s cyclosporiasis outbreak, linked to iceberg lettuce.
The outbreak affected 21 states, causing at least 12,883 cases, 570 hospitalizations, and 2 deaths. The FDA continues to investigate cyclosporiasis infections linked to iceberg lettuce from central Mexico, recalled by Taylor Farms. Michigan was the hardest-hit state, with approximately 1 in 1,000 people infected. The investigation points to shredded iceberg lettuce associated with illnesses in Taco Bell consumers. Taylor Farms’ plant in Doctor Mora, Mexico, remains closed.
